50 Short Bible Verses About Faith: Powerful Scriptures to Memorize

The best verses to memorize are often the shortest ones. A long passage takes weeks of repetition. A short, sharp verse can stick in a single day — and come back to you right when you need it most.

These 50 Bible verses about faith are all brief enough to memorize in minutes. Each one is followed by a single sentence of context so you know what you're holding when you hold it. Work through them slowly. Pick three or four to focus on this week. Let them sink in.

What Faith Is

1. Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Faith is not wishful thinking — it's a confidence in realities that the eye can't yet see.

2. Romans 10:17 "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Faith grows through Scripture — which is why reading it matters more than you might think.

3. 2 Corinthians 5:7 "For we walk by faith, not by sight." The Christian life is navigated not by what circumstances show us, but by what God has promised.

4. Hebrews 11:6 "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." Faith is the starting point of relationship with God — belief that He exists and that He responds.

5. Mark 11:22 "And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God." Three words from Jesus. The whole Christian life is in them.

Faith Over Fear

6. Isaiah 41:10 "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God." God's presence is the reason fear loses its grip.

7. Psalm 56:3 "What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee." Fear doesn't disqualify faith — choosing trust anyway is exactly what faith looks like.

8. 2 Timothy 1:7 "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." Fear is not from God. What He gives instead is worth dwelling on.

9. Joshua 1:9 "Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." Courage is commanded because God guarantees His presence — the two go together.

10. Psalm 27:1 "The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?" A rhetorical question with an obvious answer: no one.

11. Isaiah 43:1 "Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine." You belong to God. That belonging is reason enough to stop being afraid.

12. John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." Jesus's peace isn't conditional on circumstances — it holds in any storm.

Trusting God's Plan

13. Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." The more you release your need to understand, the more clearly He leads.

14. Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." God's plans for you are good — written before you were aware enough to worry about them.

15. Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Not some things. All things — including the hard ones — work together under God's hand.

16. Psalm 37:5 "Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass." Commitment to God's way releases the outcome into His hands.

17. Proverbs 16:9 "A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps." You plan; He steers. Both are part of the story.

18. Isaiah 55:8-9 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways." God's logic operates at a level our understanding can't always reach — which is exactly why faith matters.

Faith That Perseveres

19. Galatians 6:9 "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." The harvest comes — but only to those who don't give up before it arrives.

20. James 1:3 "Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience." Difficulty isn't a sign that faith is failing — it's what faith is made stronger through.

21. Romans 5:3-4 "We glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope." The chain from suffering to hope runs through patience and experience. You can't shortcut it.

22. Hebrews 12:1 "Let us run with patience the race that is set before us." Faith isn't a sprint — it's a marathon. Endurance matters as much as speed.

23. 1 Peter 1:7 "That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ." Tested faith is more valuable than gold. The refining process is the point.

24. Revelation 2:10 "Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life." The reward of faithfulness is life that doesn't end.

25. 2 Corinthians 4:17 "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all." The weight of present suffering doesn't compare to the weight of coming glory.

Faith in Action

26. James 2:17 "Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." Real faith moves. Genuine belief changes how you live.

27. Matthew 17:20 "If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove." Faith doesn't need to be large — it needs to be real and pointed in the right direction.

28. Mark 9:24 "And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief." This is one of the most honest prayers in the Bible — and Jesus honored it. Doubting faith is still faith.

29. Romans 4:20-21 "He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform." Abraham's faith was fixed on God's ability, not his own circumstances.

30. Matthew 21:21 "Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed." Faith that doesn't doubt is a different kind of force in the world.

Faith and Prayer

31. Matthew 7:7 "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." God responds to those who come to Him. Faith shows up at the door.

32. Mark 11:24 "What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." Believing prayer is a different kind of prayer than hopeful wishing.

33. 1 John 5:14 "And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us." Prayer aligned with God's will is prayer that God hears — and answers.

34. Philippians 4:6 "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God." Everything is prayer-worthy. Nothing is too small or too large to bring to God.

35. James 5:16 "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." Fervent prayer does something. It's not passive — it moves things.

God's Faithfulness to You

36. Lamentations 3:23 "They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness." God's mercies don't run out. Every morning is a fresh start.

37. Deuteronomy 7:9 "Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations." God's faithfulness outlasts any individual's lifetime.

38. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 "But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil." When your faith feels thin, remember: His faithfulness is the constant, not yours.

39. 1 Corinthians 10:13 "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able." God places a limit on what you're asked to endure. He doesn't abandon you mid-trial.

40. Numbers 23:19 "God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it?" What God says, He does. His word is his bond — and His faithfulness is His character.

Salvation by Faith

41. Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Faith is the channel through which grace flows. Salvation is never earned.

42. Romans 1:17 "For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith." The righteous life — from beginning to end — is a life of faith.

43. Acts 16:31 "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved." The simplest summary of the gospel: believe, and be saved.

44. John 6:47 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life." Present tense. "Hath." Not "will have" — already has eternal life.

45. Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." The resurrection is the hinge of faith — the belief that changes everything.

Short, Sharp, Daily

46. Psalm 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God." Stop striving. Let God be God. That's the whole verse.

47. Matthew 6:33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Priority first. Everything else follows.

48. Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." The "all things" is anchored to Christ — not to self-belief.

49. Psalm 119:105 "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." Scripture doesn't illuminate the whole road — just enough for the next step.

50. Romans 8:31 "If God be for us, who can be against us?" The final word on fear, doubt, and opposition. God is for you. Who is left to fear?
